This Sonnax 2nd gear servo offers 16% more apply area than the OE servo and is the largest and most leak-free servo available.

The small and large diameters of both the piston and cover have improved sealing which eliminates cross leaks and results in 15% less leakage than other designs. Less leakage means there is more pump volume available for the converter and to maintain line pressure.

The rubber and PTFE seals enhance positive sealing and prevent piston contact and bore scuffing. The smaller diameter apply pin gives more area to the release side of the servo where direct clutch oil pushes the servo off during the 2-3 shift.

This increased area balances against the greater 2nd apply area to maintain a favorable apply-to-release area ratio and minimize shift overlap on the 2-3 shift. The overall result is more holding force in 2nd, firmer 1-2 and 2-3 shifts that become firmer under load.

For higher horsepower applications, this servo reduces the need for aggressive lever ratios, excessively high line pressure and other more radical modifications in order to get firmer shifts.

Accumulator Piston Kit:

OE plastic accumulators are prone to breaking and have poor sealing qualities, and metal rings currently offered with aftermarket accumulators also have issues with sealing. Sonnax accumulator piston kit for Chrysler 727,  42-46-47-48RH/RE transmissions features a stronger piston made from anodized billet aluminum and a dual seal design. The piston’s PTFEs seals prevent piston-to-bore contact and the D-rings vastly improve sealing compared to aftermarket steel rings.

Kickdown Band Strut

Chrysler 46RH/RE, 47RH/RE, 48RE and A727 units used in performance applications often bend or break the kickdown band strut. To eliminate this problem, Sonnax offers heavy-duty kickdown band strut 22825-01, the strongest strut available for these applications.

  • Extra-thick cross-section for maximum toughness
  • Solid, heat-treated steel will not bend or break like stamped struts

Rear Super Servo:
Dual Teflon Rings to add stability so will not rotate in bore.
Constructed of 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum.

This newly designed piston is much wider and uses a Teflon support ring along with lip seal to create a completely stable piston. This piston will not flip in the bore.2. The lip seal has been moved up to enable it to work in a less worn portion of the bore. This can prove as a real case saver.3. This servo is available for 727 thru A518.

Explanation of Friction plate materials:
We see many different listings on ebay that say Heavy Duty or High Performance on many different listings, it is a little misleading to say the least.

Paper Colors and Information:

Tan, Light brown & Dark Brown

Tan Paper Frictions ARE Stock Not High Performance Not Heavy Duty your Transmission from the factory 
was built with these "photo above Left".

Light & Dark Brown HE "high energy" papers are again stock materials on some but not all Transmissions from the factory. 
They are an improvement over the tan paper but they are NOT high performance and are NOT heavy duty "photo above Right".

Green/Grey with Graphite Fleck & Black With Graphite Fleck

Green/Grey with Graphite Fleck papers HEG "High Energy Graphite" are an improvement over stock and ARE considered Heavy Duty but NOT high performance.

Green with Graphite Fleck "photo above Left" is High Energy Graphite material.

Grey with Graphite Fleck is a just a Graphite infused Grey paper If it were NOT infused with the graphite is would carry the same grade as the Tan, Light & Dark Brown papers and would not be reliable for heavy duty use. But seeing it is infused with the graphite that would make it acceptable for Heavy Duty use.

Black With Graphite Fleck "photo above Right" ARE considered Heavy Duty and High Performance in any application. It is a carbon infused paper with the addition of graphite VERY Strong.

Blue & Red

Blue plates are sufficient for Heavy Duty use and also high performance "photo above Left".

Red Plates ARE the best material you can buy for ANY Heavy Duty or High Performance application hands down specifically the Red Eagle plates" photo above Right".
